When I should be doing homework

I really should be doing homework right now but instead I'm fiddling, procrastinating, dawdling, ignoring those beautiful school books sitting next to me on my bed. Funny how God can use my "useless fiddling" to encourage me and teach me something about Himself. In my procrastination I meandered onto You Tube and looked up the song "By Your Side" by Tenth Avenue North. One of my favorites. Hadn't heard it in a while so while it buffered I opened a new tab and out of curiosity found the band's website and clicked around for a little. Pretty soon I was completely glued to my computer screen, reading a blog post by the lead singer. I don't know if anyone could have said anything more perfect to me right now than this:
.
All this world is fading away anyway right?
Then take heart.
This life is not about succeeding.
It’s not about changing the world.
It’s not about living with purpose, or leaving a legacy
or making the maximum impact with your life.
It’s actually not even about living your life for God.
Did you hear me?
Don’t live your life for God.
.
Live your life because God.

.
Because He has loved us, redeemed us, and because He is all that our hearts are longing for.

It’s no longer about what you do with your life at all, because He is your life.
May He do whatever it takes to open our eyes to see that.
He is the means and He is the end.
And everything in between is from his hand.
It can be terrifying at times, I know, but its worth it.
Believe me, and I guess more importantly believe Him.
It’s worth it.

Last Day

Friday was my last day working as secretary for the church. The entire day was sort of at odds with itself. On one hand it was my last day: Pastor Steve bought me a yummy caramel thing from Starbucks (my love language...thanks Pastor Steve!), the three pastors and the other church staff took me out to Thai for lunch (I ate with chopsticks to practice for going to China and Pastor Dax made me try Thai iced tea...totally one of the best things I've ever had!), and I tried to wrap a couple things up so that the next secretary won't find a mess. But at the same time I still folded the bulletins, stuffed the outlines, cleaned the sanctuary, checked a million little jobs off my list, and bugged the pastors with various questions. A very normal but very momentous day all at the same time! And I think a visit to the office soon is pretty much inevitable.

Dilemma

If you know me very well at all, you know that I've always wanted a truck. A Ford Ranger truck. Don't ask me why. It's just the way it is. But recently my mom asked what I would think about a yellow VW Bug...there's one sitting at a gas station for sale in my price range. And now life has become very complicated. What do you think?

Abandoned and Making the Most of It

The five of us woke up this moning to find that aparently the 70 degree weather we had yesterday wasn't good enough for our parents. They had flown off to Hawaii for a week, leaving us to fend for ourselves. We are making the most of our plight though...

. milkshakes from my work .

. sea glass . waves . chilly wind . . . the beach .

. we've kissed the dog .

. we've jumped on the trampoline .

. run the dishwasher .

. and the gum is a sign of even better things :) .
