21

It's past noon and I'm still not sure what the big deal about 21 is.

Maybe having a beer in Germany takes away the excitement of being officially old enough to drink in the US or something. Or maybe not wanting to go out and get drunk so that I can puke it up on Christmas morning (or any other morning for that matter) does it. Not sure.

Whatever it is...It's another birthday. Another Christmas. Another day. Another rain shower in the northwest. Another opportunity to wear my purple dress and black TOMS. Another 5 minutes to check facebook. Another hug from my little sister. Another reflection of Christmas lights in the window. Another prayer for snow. Another headache. Another smile. Another latte. Another story to write. Another complication to figure out. Another book to read.

Just give it time. One day you'll think on your age and be like "Hey, 21. I like the sound of that!" =) And btw...that picture is incredibly cute. You like have a gift in looking cute or something =) Hugs to you!

You could make it more Jane Austen-esque by saying you're "one and twenty". That sounds SO romantical... :)

yes...Kels...I have skills. No...actually I practiced hard in the mirror before taking that picture.

I can't decide whether to leave a comment that agrees with you or not so much. I think I'll do not:

The big deal is that you never have to be 20 again! (Might I refer you to one of your previous posts and the fact that Had a Bad Day is pretty much the theme song of your year.) That you're one day closer to heaven. That maybe, just maybe, tomorrow will have a little more sunshine and you'll be able to enjoy it more than you ever could have yesterday, or last week, or last month because you're a different person today than you were yesterday, or last week, or last month.

Hmmmm. That came out pretty good, but ... I could have written that about any day of the week. So, I'm back to agreeing with you. It must be no big deal.

Either way, you're awesomely cool, and I love you.

I think the big deal is that it's one day closer to feeling more comfy in your own skin, the pains and heartaches of yesterday are farther away, and you are more dearly loved than ever by your friends and dear ones. I hope your 21st year is truly beautiful and healing. :-)
